Changing Tomorrow
Changing Tomorrow exists to help people rediscover what connects us.
At a time when division is amplified, misinformation spreads quickly, and trust across differences feels increasingly fragile, our work focuses on something both simple and profound: changing the environments that shape how people see one another.
Through storytelling, education, dialogue tools, and community-centered initiatives, we create spaces where people experience belonging, collaboration, and shared purpose across differences.
We believe that lasting social change does not begin with debate. It begins with exposure, understanding, and human connection.
Why We Exist
Across history, people from vastly different backgrounds have found ways to work together when environments demand trust, cooperation, and accountability.
Whether in sports, labor, housing, education, the military, medicine, politics, music, or community life, these shared environments reveal a consistent truth:
When people are united by a common purpose, difference becomes a strength - not a barrier.
Yet many of the stories, structures, and lived experiences that demonstrate this truth remain unseen, misunderstood, or disconnected from one another.
Changing Tomorrow was created to surface these stories, examine the environments that shape them, and translate those lessons into tools communities can use to build more inclusive, resilient futures.
What We Do
We develop mission-aligned initiatives that approach belonging, equity, and shared understanding from multiple entry points - recognizing that people learn, grow, and connect in different ways.
Our work includes:
Long-form and short-form storytelling that explores how shared environments foster trust and collaboration
Educational and youth-focused projects that introduce belonging and empathy early in life
Dialogue tools that support courageous, constructive conversation across difference
Community-based initiatives that address structural barriers to stability, dignity, and opportunity
While each project is distinct, all are designed to advance the same mission:
People change when they see themselves reflected in one another.
Our Approach
Rather than telling people what to think, we invite them into shared environments, real or narrative, where collaboration already exists and allow authentic experiences to lead the work.
We:
Center lived experience alongside historical, scholarly, and community insight
Partner with educators, subject matter experts, historians, filmmakers, and local leaders
Design projects that are accessible across ages, backgrounds, and learning styles
Create tools that extend learning and conversation beyond a single moment or medium
Whether through a documentary, a children’s story, a dialogue card, or a community-rooted initiative, our goal is the same:
to help people recognize one another as part of a shared story.
Who We Serve
Communities seeking healthier dialogue across difference
Educators and students navigating identity, history, and belonging
Families and youth forming early understandings of empathy and inclusion
Local and state leaders working to rebuild trust and civic cohesion
Organizations committed to equity, opportunity, and community wellbeing
Our Vision
We envision a future where:
Belonging is treated as essential social infrastructure
Differences are engaged with curiosity rather than fear
Communities have practical tools for honest, constructive communication
People recognize shared humanity before conflict defines the narrative
Changing Tomorrow is not about fixing people. It’s about changing the environments that shape how people see one another.
Because when environments change, conversations change… And when conversations change, so does the future.
Speaking of “conversations”… We have partnered with Courageous Coffee in Portland, MI to encourage courageous conversations within the community and beyond. Courageous Coffee was born with a hope to give pause and allow for special moments of conversation, quiet thoughts within or that extra boost to take on the world. Master Roaster, Tanya Schneider understands the power of a small cup of coffee and the ability for it to create an environment for Change Makers and Action Takers, giving them just enough time to spark needed conversations, to process their own inner thoughts or begin the day, ready to take on the world. A quote on the Courageous Coffee website says it all, “a single act of courage is often the tipping point for extraordinary change." Hopefully this is just the cup of courage you need to join us in this mission for extraordinary change.
We must become Change MakerS & Action Takers!
Exposure to Diversity
We want to create environments that help people develop a broader understanding and appreciation of diversity, reducing the likelihood of racial biases. Early introduction to books, tv shows, toys and games that promote diverse interactions and experiences is the most natural way to expose children to different racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Education & Awareness
We want accurate information about race and racism provided to our children from the beginning. We can help children develop a critical understanding of racial issues and motivate them to take positive action in the future. We must supply them with opportunities for age-appropriate discussions, learning through participation, and media channels that promote anti-racist values. We want to build a foundation on which we teach children about the importance of equality and justice.
Challenging Stereotypes
We want to encourage early socialization to actively challenge and counteract racial stereotypes. We aim to promote positive interactions and highlight the achievements and contributions of individuals from various racial backgrounds. This is the best way for children to develop a more accurate and more balanced perception and reduce prejudice and bias.
WAYS TO ENCOURAGE Intercultural Exchanges
Organize cultural events, festivals and activities where people can learn and experience the foods, dress and music from different racial and cultural backgrounds.
Create cultural awareness events in schools where students can have a sense of pride in their own culture and greater appreciation for others.
Teach the value of different cultural practices, norms, and perspectives, promoting respect and reducing racial divisions.
WAYS TO Teach Empathy and Perspective
Encourage people to put themselves in others’ shoes.
Teach the value of listening, respect and understanding different viewpoints.
Promote discussions that allow people to share their experiences and learn from one another.
